Over-optimistic and not-thought-through estimates result in unrealistic schedules and deadlines, which will certainly be missed. This is desired by neither the customer nor the developer.

Testing is far from perfect. Testing is far from cheap. And yes, testing is far from exciting. Despite all these, why do we test if there are other ways of checking that a software product works as we mean it to?
